There are many kinds of heartbreaks that one might go through in this lifetime; romantic (with all its numerous levels of attachment vs pain), those regarding relatives and family members, as well as friends- those we grew apart from and those who grew apart from us. Sometimes they are the ones who choose to step away, still they stay in your memory, each and every day.
Missing someone yet honouring their choice not to choose you is a painful, yet growth-inclined and beautiful jouney to go through. You live your life, your adventures, with an echo of sorrow mixing into the sunsets, aurora borealis, lemon tagliatelle dinners on a busy piazza- even when surrounded with company, it even follows to the mountain tops and green pastures where the sheeps greet you as you cross the riverbend. Waterfalls might feel magnificent, but somewhere between the thundering rainbow burst of colour, there it is again.
You love them regardless, no anger or resentment, just a wish that they are doing okey. Wherever they now are- maybe happiness finally came their way. You trust the choices they needed to make. You love them still, each and every day.
Life changes course, and we change.
We break attachment that no longer feel the same.
We leave behind only memories, let go of remeniscing together with those who once came our way.
We live on, we move to our inner voice- making clear to follow that never before taken choice.
We hope they will understand.
Sometimes they move faster than we can.
A broken heart takes healing- slowly, a smile of understanding for their plan.
Gratitude for having them on this earth, living their life- in the best way they can.
We are not part of every story- each of us have our own. See them for their journey, the one that they are on. There are times our trauma, or theirs, left a tainted mark. A bit to cut off in order to get a fresh new start. There are times when they realized their priorities had changed, our growth was standing in the way. Our lives and values no longer looked the same. Continents, ideologies, family life patterns, to follow our wished path, all of these matter.
Perhaps one day, far in the future, we can meet, talk it out as we once again feel our feet. When both are settled, balanced, found our own. Know what we stand for without an unsure hold. There is nothing in growth to apologise for.
I love you wherever you are,
You are still important.
Near or far.
